Quite a few months ago, a friend reminded me of these wonderful verses and they continue to periodically pop into my head, even now:
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
God obviously has a reason for these seasons that we go through. I think He's using this time in my life to help me cling even more steadfastly to Him and polish some of my character traits, such as patience, at the same time.
Some of my comforts during times of restlessness are:
- journaling
- searching for related scriptures
- listening to worship music
- cozy local coffee shops with a close friend for good conversation and encouragement
- spending time outside whether it's going for a walk on a sunshiney day or stargazing on a beautiful clear night.
Here's a closing quote:
"Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.”
― Aurelius Augustinus, The Confessions of Saint Augustine
