Rains of Refreshment

Thanks to Pinterest, I found this amazing verse. But it doesn't share it in its entirety:

"Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises, he will appear.;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth."

Hosea 6:3

I just love this. We know He's always there, even when there are clouds on the horizon or when they are hovering around us. The Son is still present.

A friend shared this thought with me-

"When the dry season is here for a long time, it makes the rain that much more refreshing."

These words alone refreshed me. I was amazed how well they tied in with the verse from Hosea.

We all go through dry seasons. Some more often and longer lasting than others.

When I myself am in the midst of one, I feel like a sponge. So thirsty and in need of a drink, but unable at the time to soak anything up. That's when I bask in His presence via worship music, dig into the Word, and truthfully share with Him what is on my heart. Slowly but surely, I feel a drop here and a drop there. It might take awhile to become saturated, but in due time, my sponge will be wet enough for Him to wring out. As I mentioned here, that process is painful, but necessary to continue being used by Him.

Lord, continue to reign in my heart and life in the dry seasons as well as in the seaons that rain refreshment.
