Room Reveal

I'm so pleased to finally share the final changes I've made to my room over the past few months,
(ok, maybe the past year!)
I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

Background on why I wanted to do a room re-do:
I was tired of the floral border, rose colored curtains, and plaid bedspread. Yeah, that's about it.

Let's begin with some before shots:

Doorway

{Messy} bulletin board...yipes!

Notice the lamp from this post. :)

 {I almost forgot how it looked before.}

 The comforter had to go.

Are you ready for the new look?  Here we go...

New picture frame and shoe hanger.
(What did I do without that?!)

 Updated, orderly bulletin board

New wicker basket for storing lotions, hair products, etc.

New chalkboard (Hobby Lobby; was originally a wooden trim,
but I painted it yellow to add a pop of color)

  Full view of dresser/bookshelf corner

New curtains and comforter.
Like the window seat? It used to be a toy box,
but we converted it to storage for some of
my future kitchen and home items.
The pillows came with the comforter set & the fabric was
on a pillow I didn't need so we repurposed it to cover the upholstery. :)

New lamp, magnetic board, and dry erase to-do board

Up close shot on these goodies:
Magnetic board
(on sale at Hobby Lobby)
& Dry erase board ($1 at Target)

Oh, almost forgot this. Remember the terrible two-toned paint look pictured here?
I solved the dilemma by using black lace to cover the difference. It was a bit of a challenge
to hang, but I'm rather content with the result. All these changes with only a minimal amount of painting. That makes me happy!

And ta-da, thus ends the "new" room tour. Hope you enjoyed the changes! I certainly am.
Would love to hear your feedback.

Room Sneak Peek

One of my goals this summer is to finally finish my room redo.  It's been in the works since Christmas so I'd say it's about time to wrap it up!  I can't wait till it's complete.

Here's just a few quick pics of what I've been working on:

The bulletin board was very boring before I painted the trim this cheery yellow color.
I think it gives it a sweet antique look.
There's one more thing that I need to add to this yet.

I absolutely adore this {cheap!} frame.  It had 2 hooks in the back, but I only had one nail on the wall.  My simple solution: knot black ribbon on each hook and hang on the nail.

New lamp: Check!  And another burlap cork board to adorn the outside of my closet.
You can still see my two-toned wall dilemna.  I'm working on that.
My 2 likely options: adding black lace to cover up the color difference
or...
painting a verse/phrase on the border using black paint to make it look like an actual border.

I'd love some feedback!

Change: The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly

Change.  A word most people hate, including myself.  When I look back on the past few months, I see a lot of change leaving a trail behind me.  Even though it hasn't all been the greatest, I'm thankful to say that most of it has been rather exciting.  I've experienced lots of changes in my job; among my friends; and even in my hobbies!  In the midst of all of this change, it's so reassuring to remember that God NEVER changes!
Here's just a glimpse into a few of the changes taking place in my life~

I'm slowly working on redoing my room and this was one of the first changes.  I hesitated getting rid of this old lamp (not because of its "beauty,") but because I thought it was a family heirloom.  My conscience was greatly relieved when my mom told me that it was not and I was free to get rid of it!  :)  So I did just that.  Unfortunately about 2 minutes after this picture, I knocked the lamp over (purely by accident, I promise!) and the globe broke.  So into the trash it went!  I'm still laughing about it now!

So for another picture:

Lately, I've been in this DIY craftiness mood, which is somewhat unusual for me.  But I'm loving it!  I have this current interest with glass Mason jars and am coming up with some cute decorating ideas.  Here's one that I quickly threw together, minus a candle inside.  If you have any ideas, please share!

And lastly:
Yay for guitars!  I finally got one from my cousin and am so excited to play around with it, after it's restrung and tuned again.  I guess you could say I have the music bug and it's with me for life!  But I don't mind one bit.  :)
Oh, just in case you're wondering, I'll be keeping you updated on how my room is coming along!  More pictures to come...
